Allow Individuals the Freedom to Import Affordable Medications for Their Own Care

 The same medications sold in the U.S. are sometimes nine times less expensive in Canada and other countries.

Millions of Americans import lower-cost medication by traveling to Canada and Mexico and by ordering from international online pharmacies. 

The safest international pharmacy options should not be the target of enforcement actions, as they offer a lifeline of affordable medication.

In 2016, Gabriel Levitt, founder of Prescription Justice, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief and protection for American patients who are struggling to afford medication, wrote a CircleID article, “Protecting Online Access to Safe and Affordable Medication.” 

The editorial described how drug companies strategically extend their regulatory capture of U.S. laws to the internet to the detriment of patients who need more affordable medicines. It is a call to action.  Medication should be affordable for all who need it.
